I think (hope) this theme leaves enough room for play and still ties in with the overall December theme. She also asked me to make an example.
So here it is, I even found a quote that ties in with the theme wonderfully.
There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire,
which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity,
but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.
- Washington Irving
I made some progress pics and detail shots, but forgot to turn the camera on and make a film.
I hope now that the NaNoWriMo 50000 word challenge is over I will have more time to do video's again.
I started out with a loose leaf scrapbook paper and added Gesso.
I then glued some pieces from a pattern I was given in the wednesday swap from the facebook group.
I think the pattern paper and instructions look fabulous.
After watching a video online with a lady playing with alcolhol inks, I felt like taking out my alcohol inks and play with them.
So I did and then drew a rough face outline with ink and pen.
I liked how the outline looked, added some white ink and thought about leaving it like it was. I liked the simplicity of the drawing.
But apparently felt like playing with my soft pastels and acrylics, so I did.
Which is what made me happy. So I added some the final details and the quote.
I like how she turned out.
The transparency of the face.
Making her look fragile,
Yet strong.
I feel like that at times as I think we all do.
In the past year I have learnt that adversity can make us stronger.
I feel my burn out, in the beginning of this year, has tought me some valuable lessons. I am emerging on the other side as a stronger woman and, hopefully, a better person. More myself then I ever was.
I found this wonderful community online with beautiful creative people and that in itself makes me happy.
So I hope you can find some inspiration in this theme of "Dark and Light" and go out to create something wonderful for yourself and show us on Art Journal Journey.
I hope to find you there and I wish you a wonderful day.
That's a wonderful theme and magnificent pages!
