But first things first, this is the package I received in the mail =)
All the way from Australia.
Gayle journal has a theme of "Doors and Windows". Tracy made a wonderful sign in page in the front of the book.
Here are a few close up shot's of the pages Tracy did.
You can find her blogpost on these pages here.
I decided to pick a few pages futher down the journal and started working in November.
Had fun playing with paints.
Came to a full stop and when I continued ....I managed to get the book upside down!
I only noticed this after I had glued down the windows and lady.
And continued on with the page pretending nothing was wrong...
Added a quote I felt was fitting:
People are like stained - glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in,
their true beauty is revealed only
if there is a light from within.
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
I did however add a little note saying which way was up...
And a remark about how silly I felt about turning the book upside down....
Then it was time to do the second spread. About doors this time
Asked my daughter to name some colours and grabbed the first tubes of paint I could find from my drawer in those colours. They were Blue, orange, green and pink.
Made a face on a bookpage.
Cut it out and glued it to the journal.
Right side up this time =)
Toned it all down and brought the colour sceme more to the colours of the door I had in mind.
Added the door and quote.
There are things known and there are things unknown,
and in between are the doors of perception.
Aldous Huxley
I love that quote!
I kinda like how she turned out.
And how those colours my daughter choose are still there and shine through the layers of the background.
It all came together in the end.
And I hope Gayle will like her spreads as much as I had fun making them.
I'm afraid it turned out to be a rather lengthy post with those two speads and there's even more to come with Tracy's journal being finished as well.
But that'll be for another time.
Thank you for watching and I wish you a wonderful evening.
Beautiful work, upside down or not, there's no right way in art! Valerie
