It was a wonderfull day with lots of sunshine and beautiful people and I got to use my iPhone case altered book for the first time.
My husband made a nice steampunk backpack, but forgot to take it with him. I'm glad I'm not the only one who keeps forgetting things. =)
Last night when the peace was restored at our house I could finally sit down and do some doodling. I doodled a face, trying not to use an example, but just by using guidelines for face drawing I found online. Oddly enough, when using those guidelines, I find myself drawing faces that I would draw when I was a teen. I tried to steer away from this a little, but decided to use it as is in my art journal instead. This way I can, hopefully, see some progress when I start drawing more faces and get more practice.
And, maybe, find the style that suits me and, in general, is more me.
I cut her out from the dictionary page I had doodled her on. Prepped the pages by collaging black tissue paper, home stamped tissue paper and dictionary paper to the background. I sprayed her with fixative, since she was done (mostly) with soft pastels and I didn't want to smudge her, when glueing her to the background. Once I glued her to the background I added some colours to the background with soft pastels, fixated that and then applied some extra texture to the background with acrylic paints stamped on with bubblewrap, some oddly shaped sanding thingy and a wooden peacock stamp, I bought at the Elf Fantasy Fair.
Somehow the peacock stamp didn't stamp very well, so I ended up painting it in with acrylic paints. I wrote down the thought I had about my doodled face, with my new feather pen and calligraphy ink.
"She has a thousand faces, none of which are hers."
I love my new pen =). So pretty!
Doodled a little with my new pen and then stamped with a diamond stamp and a script stamp. Added some washi tape and took a step back.
I now feel I have fiddled around with this page long enough, it's time to move on (to the next face?). I do like how she turned out, a bit soft and sad. I definitely like how the dictionary page, she was drawn on, works with the drawing. I like that a lot. I might not ever use regular paper again to draw on =).
I'll be entering this page in the following challenge:
Thank you for watching and have a nice day.
