As time goes by

I hope you all had a good easter weekend. We had a wonderfull time, with the sun coming out from behind the clouds. Spreading a little, much needed, light and warmth. All the birds in the garden decided it was finally spring and were whistling cheerfully. A perfect time to do some art journalling.

On Easter sunday I made some art/smash journals for the kids to play with and on monday, when my sister arrived with the kids I let them pick one. Well, that is, the girls. My niece and my daughter, since the boys preferred their computer games =).
My sister picked one as well and so did my mother. So I cleared the dining room table, dragged out some art supplies and we all sat down and started our journal. We didn't have all that much room, but we had a lot of fun working together like this. I even finished a page in my new journal. All bright and sunny.

My daughter finished her first page as well. Playing with texture, acrylics and pastels on paper for the first time. I think she did really great, I love how it came out.

So today I thought I would explore water colour paint a bit more, since I have no experience with those, whatsoever. On top of that I thought I would try and paint a portrait with them. Wich was far more difficult than I thought it would be.

After the first layer I realized the evelope in the middle might make it a little difficult to make a consistent 2 spread page. I gave it a go though.

Here is the finished page with the drawing side. I realize I do need to work on my skills a lot more, but overall I'm rather pleased with it.

I do tend to treat the water colour paint as if they were acrylic paints...really need to work on that.

I added the little moth as a symbol for change and transformation, as that is what time tend to do. It also is something I need to work on.
I like how it turned out even though my skills with the watercolours do need some polishing. So if you have any tips or techniques you would like to share with me, I would love to hear them.

I also would like to enter this page into the following challenges:

Thank you for watching.
