In july 2013 I discovered the Midori style travelers notebook. I immediately fell in love with the ease and flexibility of the system and as I was on the lookout for a way to organize myself and declutter my mind, I figured I would give it a go.
I made a trial version using scrap leather and sizes derived from my own file folder booklets and then, of course, I was hooked. It's a great system and so very versatile. Next I made some versions from an old suitcase. A thrift store find, no longer fit for travel, but just right for a travelers notebook.
Joined a facebook group with fellow TN enthousiasts and from there on it went downhill =). I made two for me, a Full sized TN and a Fieldnotes sized TN. I made one for my husband, one for my daughter and another for family projects. I started reading all I could find about this system and watched every YouTube video I could find.
I found a lot of information about the Midori Travelers Notebook system. How to make my own version and how to use it. I also found lots of information about getting organized, time tracking and management, the GTD system and bullet journals.
I tried to incorporate the things I liked into a system that would work for me. That would keep me on track, monitor my progress and help me set boundaries.
Since I made this video I made a few more adaptations to my system and several other video's. You can find them on my YouTube Channel (MoniqueVMB)
Learned some leather crafting and made some nice leather TN's in september 2013, as an anniversary present to my husband and myself.
And as I had some leather left, I also made a smaller version.
Since then I've realy started making these leather Traveler's Notebook covers. I got a few requests from people on the facebook group to make one for them (here are a few: Justin See (Blank and Write - The Blog) and Ray Blake (My life all in one place) and the ball kept on rolling.
I now have an Etsy shop: Morgan Le Fae's Trinkets where I sell Traveler's Notebook covers in all different colours. Homedyed and crafted. So are the inserts I make for the Traveler's Notebooks and some leather accesories, which are also for sale in the etsy shop.
I made several new inserts. At first I adapted some Philofaxy source files and files from Ray Blake, but have since been making and developing my own (source) files.
So to make a long story short, I would like to share some of the files I make for the Midori Style Travelers Notebooks here. These files are free to download and use. You can adapt them any which way you like. They are not for commercial use, etc:

Your printable are really nice! I'm always happy to se another kind people work! You will be and my favourite blog list!
ReplyDeleteDiscovered your site as I'm browsing online to find TN inspirations. Gorgeous work. Love seeing all your TN's lined up ready to go to their new homes. I see the metal clasps on them look exactly like the Midori brand TN's. Would you be able to let me know where you find/buy them. I like that look but I've only ever been able to find it available with the Midori repair kit. I'm hoping to buy just the clasp to make a few TNs of my own.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Amy

DeleteMonique,
ReplyDeleteYour templates are great. Thank you first of all for sharing them with all of us. I am wondering if you know how to adjust the templates so that they can be printed out on letter sized paper. As I do not have easy access to A5 or A4 paper. I have tried without success so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Travis, Thank you for the compliment. You can print the pdf's to 94% of the actual size, that would make them come out right on letter sized paper. There's a printinstructions file in my dropbox to explain it all. Hope you succeed.
DeleteEven when I try to print with 94% it still does not come out the same as your template. I wish that I could figure this out. I even read through the instructions. If you ever have the time could you talk us through how to make our own templates?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the templates Morgan. I'm trying to print the Regular size grid/lined on A4 but following the instructions of double side booklet they still dun come out right. any idea what i'm doing wrong?
ReplyDeleteThank you.
I really couldn't answer that question with this information...there are so many things that can go wrong. First one being, are you using A4 paper or letter? Maybe you could send me a mail or a message on my facebook page, that way you can attach images to show me the settings and what goes wrong =)
DeleteOh wow oh wow oh wow!!!! You are my hero! Thank you!!!!!
