ATC's for WOYWW4 swap

As I didn't finish the ATC's for the WOYWW4 swap in time to post them on the day itself, I promised to show them when I finished them. I finished them on thursday and yesterday I put them in envelopes and sent them of to their recipients.

I also made some cardholders to go with them, to prevent them getting damaged in the mail.

First I will show you some progress shots, as I did remember to make a few.

I started out with glueing some pretty napkin paper to the ATC's with golden matt gel medium. I crinkled it first to get some texture and then patted it down, making sure some of the crinkles would show.
I took some fimo clay and made a sort of flattish piece, which I then put under one side of an embossing folder. To protect the embossing folder and the bottom plate, I put the clay between two baking sheets.

That didn't really do the trick, because the paper tore when I put the sandwich through my big shot.

After cleaning the embossing folder and trying to pick the paper pieces from my clay, I decided I would just go ahead and bake it. Before baking it I pressed 3 circles into the clay with a cookie cutter.

After baking, it was much easier to remove the remaining bits of baking sheet and the 3 circles could be removed from the piece. I then added some gold perfect pearls to the top of the clay pieces.

At first I wanted to use the circles, but I felt the remaining piece of clay was much more interesting to look at.

I cut and aranged the pieces of clay into some organic shapes that I liked. I think the last one looks a bit like a bird.

As I was supposed to put the WOYWW4 somewhere on the card I printed and distressed that.

Found some printed alphabet tiles that I liked and got some tiny dragon flies from my mother that she had die cut and embossed, to try out her new tools =). Aren't they cute?

By the end of all this my dinner tab;e looked like this, completely exploded crafting stuff.

I cut and folded some card board  and scrap papers to make the ATC folders. Distressed and stamped them and glued it all together. That didn't really wotk the way I wanted to, but I guess good enough for now. Next time I will attach the decorative paper in a different way to avoid warping of the paper when I the folders are closed. I put the whole lot under a stack of books to flatten them.

Embossed some gears and the edges of the folders with gold embossing.

So that's all of them done. I really like how they came out and I will try the embossing with the plates again. I just have to find the right way to do it, without wrecking my plates or having to pick pieces of paper from the clay...

I decorated the back with the ATC print and a tiny tag =).

I had a lot of fun making these and I hope the recipients will be pleased. I was going to wait untill everyone received their ATC, but as I wanted to link this to the Make My Monday: handmade embellishments challenge I had to post it now. Still they don't know which one is theirs, so it will still be a surprise.

Thank you for watching and I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

  1. Oh Monique, your ATCs look gorgeous!
I like the combination of colours you used and also that you didn't use the circles, but the leftovers of the clay. You are absolutely right, that is a lot more interesting!

Also your ATC folders look wonderful and fit very well to the ATCs. I love it and the recipients can feel very lucky to receive one of those beautiful ATCs!
