This page took me on a little journey down memory lane, back to a time when I didn't know what worries were.
In the picture you can see me, sitting on my grandfather's knee and my sister, trying to get away, because she probably saw a butterfly worth chasing, in my grandfather's garden. Cows grazing peacefully in the background. My grandfather is pointing to my father, who took the picture.
He was a warm and thoughtful man, very close to nature. Always outside in the garden. My happiest memories of our visits are of him taking us to feed the chickens and showing us the baby rabbits, cuddled up nice and warm in their hay nests. My mother muttering in the background about our sunday clothes getting all dirty. Happy days.
Here are some close up shots of the page and a short making of video.
As you can see in the video, I did start out with yellow, but I really don't like this combination.
So I changed it to make it work for me.
I somehow ended up with a white background with red and gold.I liked it so much, that I actualy really did not want to do anything to it anymore.
But then I found this picture that I loved and the perfect quote for my grandfather. It has him written all over.
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
- Emerson, Ralph Waldo
So yes, a gentle man, who loved to laugh, loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
I didn't set out to take this trip down memory lane, but apparently this is where the page took me and I'm glad it did. It brought back lots of fond memories.
In the end I brought back the yellow by picking a lovely rose in my garden. I will dry this rose and keep it with this page. As a memory of him and his garden and this day that was so bright and sunny and filled with sweet memories and the smell of roses.
Thank you all for watching and I wish you a lovely day.
