I know, I am really, really late making the june tag for the 12 tags of 2013. So this will be a really, really short post. I loved the tag Tim made as an inspiration and the techniques he used, butI just couldn't get it together to go and make this tag.
This afternoon it hit me. I just wasn't in the mood to make a tag. I wanted to make books. The feeling of booklets and the fiddling with paper just makes me happy. So I decided to make the cover of a booklet with the techniques Tim showed us.
I didn't have all the products Tim used, so I used substitutes that I thought would work. I did make some progress shots and detail photo's.
This time not a japanese stab book, but one of the mini file folder journals I made a while back and still needed to decorate.
I started with the covers and used vintage photo and turkoise acrylic paint. I then stamped with black archival ink. I tried to keep the stamping as soft as possible.
I stamped the inage on water color paper with black archival ink.
Added muslin to the spine of the booklet. The muslin was treated the same way as the cover with vintage photo, turkoise acrylic paint and stamped with black archival ink. The cover and the muslin were also distressed round the edges with walnut stain distress ink.
Colored the image with brushed corduroy, weathered wood, vintage photo and faded jeans distress stains.
After wich I distressed it with walnut stain round the edges. I then dragged the walnut stain into the background with a wet brush. Flicked some droplets faded jeans and vintage photo onto it. Decided it was too bright and toned it down with some weathered wood.
I feel the weathered wood did its job wonderfully and tied the background and the image nicely together.
So here's the little booklet.
I left the back cover with just the stamping.
The signature consists of a random collection of papers.
The little clip was treated with the turkoise acrylic paint and sepia archival ink. I really like how this booklet turned out and I loved the techniques used to make it. I will use it as my smash journal. In fact, I think I will make a new smash journal every month with the techniques Tim uses for the 12 tags of 2013. See if I can be faster then =).
Thank you for watching and I wish you a wonderful week.
